Swayam is a program that was launched in 2016 by our former President Pranab Mukherjee. This is a great initiative that provides the best teaching and learning study material too all via the internet.
Along with this, The President also launched the SwayamPrabha project where 32 DTH channels are specially operationalized for telecasting good quality educational content for free using GSAT-15 satellite transponders.
So, by launching this valuable program, India has joined the list of a few countries that have their own online interactive learning platform with video lectures, reading materials.
It also conducts assignments and quizzes where the score is added as a credit in the academics. UGC has issued the regulations to allow the transfer of credits that are earned through the courses done to the academic record of students.
This program provides around 400 courses covering both engineering and non-engineering subjects at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Thereby students get the golden opportunity to take courses offered by the prestigious IITs/IIMs without the need to study there formally.
Also, the SwayamPrabha channels deliver 4 hours of fresh content every day. So, you can watch it on your set-top box. These channels include IIT-PAL channels where IIT staffs teach and also guide the JEE aspirants.
