2. What do you mean by the ‘term’ scientific explanation? Explain the various models of scientific explanation with illustrations. Do you think that these models of scientific explanation can be extended to non-physical sciences? Give reasons in support of your answer.

3. Distinguish between mono method research and mixed method research. In which situation, would you like to conduct enquiry by using mixed methods research? Give illustration.

2. State the major features of critical framework as guiding principle for undertaking research in social sciences. Do you think that this framework is a departure from post positivism and interpretivism? Give reasons.

3. Explain the various functional forms of regression model.
From the imaginary data for 46 Districts in UP related to the year 2020, the following regression results are given:

Where C= consumption of Cigarette packs per year
P= real price per pack
Y= real disposable income per capita.
i. What is the elasticity of demand for cigarettes with respect to price?
ii. What is the income elasticity of demand for cigarettes? Is it statistically significant?
iii. How would you retrieve 𝑅2 from the adjusted 𝑅2 given above.
4. What is representative sample? Explain with example how random sampling is different from non-random sampling? How does random sampling procedure is helpful in correcting the bias of an estimate?
5. Distinguish between quantitative and qualitative research. Discuss with example the special features and applications of correspondence analysis as a technique of data analysis for qualitative research.

खंड – क
प्रत्येक प्रश्न का उत्तर लगभग 700 शब्दों में देना है। इस खंड का प्रत्येक प्रश्न 20 अंक का है।
1. परिमाणात्मक तथा गुणात्मक शोध में अंतर अवधारणात्मक नामिता की अपेक्षा सामाजिक जाँच से संबंधित दृष्टिकोण में निहित है” इस कथन के आलोक में शोध प्रक्रिया में सम्मिलित विभिन्न चरणों को बताते हुए गुणात्मक शोध हेतु शोध प्रस्ताव तैयार करें।
2. वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण से आप क्या समझते हैं? उदाहरण सहित वैज्ञानिक विश्लेषण के विविध प्रतिमानों की व्याख्या करें। क्या आप ऐसा मानते हैं कि वैज्ञानिक विश्लेषण के ये रूप गैर भौतिक विज्ञान विषयों पर भी लागू किये जा सकते है? अपने उत्तर के समर्थन में कारण दें।
खंड – ख
प्रत्येक प्रश्न का उत्तर लगभग 500 शब्दों में देना है। इस खंड का प्रत्येक प्रश्न 12 अंक का है।
परिमाणात्मक प्रश्नों पर शब्द सीमा लागू नहीं होती।
1. एकल विधि शोध तथा मिश्रित विधि शोध में अंतर बतायें। किन स्थितियों में अनुसंधान करने हेतु आप मिश्रित विधि का प्रयोग करेंगे? उदाहरण दें।
2.(i) प्रतीपगमन प्रतिमान के विविध रूपों की बतायें।
(ii) नीचे एक तटस्थता वक्र का समीकरण इस प्रकार दिया गया हैः
निम्नलिखित आँकड़ों से आप इस मोडल के प्राचलों (parameters) का अनुमान (estimation) किस प्रकार करोगेः

2. “शोध कार्य में निगमनात्मक कार्यप्रणाली (Deductive Strategy) तर्कों के अनुप्रयोग से प्रारंभ होती है जिससे सामान्य निष्कर्ष निकाले जाते है” इस कथन के आलोक में एक शोध प्रस्ताव का निर्माण करें जिसमें शोध प्रकिया में सम्मिलित सभी चरणों का समावेश हो।
3. सामाजिक विज्ञानों में शोध करने हेतु निर्देशक सिद्धांत (guiding principle) के रुप में आलोचनात्मक ढांचे की प्रमुख विशेषताओं को बतायें। क्या आप ऐसा मानते हैं कि आलोचनात्मक ढांचा पश्च प्रत्यक्षवाद तथा निर्वचनात्मक ढांचों से हटकर है? कारण दें।

4. प्रतीपगमन प्रतिमान के विभिन्न रूपों की व्याख्या करें।
सन् 2020 से सम्बन्धित उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के 46 जनपदों के काल्पनिक आंकड़ों के आधार पर प्रतीपगमन के परिणाम इस प्रकार दिए गए हैं:
4. प्रतिनिधि प्रतिचयन (representative sample) क्या है? सोदारण व्याख्या करें कि यादृच्छिक प्रतिचयने गैर-यादृच्छिक से प्रतिचयन किस प्रकार भिन्न होता है? यादृच्छिक प्रतिचयन किस प्रकार किसी अनुमिति की अभिनिति का निवारण करने में सहायक होता है।
5. परिमाणात्मक एवं गुणात्मक शोध में अंतर बतायें। गुणात्मक शोध के आंकड़ों के विश्लेषण की तकनीक के रूप में सहगामिता विश्लेषण की विशिष्टताओं एवं प्रयोज्यता की चर्चा करें।
6. संयुक्त सूचकांक क्या है? उदाहरण देते हुए संयुक्त सूचकांकों की रचना की प्रक्रिया की व्याख्या करें।
